So I'm starting to feel the effects of basically non-stop rains here in the Pacific Northwest. I don't know how people do it. There's a store that sells "living" products to old people in the mall near where I'm living. The store sells reacher prongs, walkers, electric scooters, bedpans... the like. But it also has a whole display of "light therapy" products. I walk by this store to get to my Post Office box. Today I was drawn in like moth to a flame (or, more precisely, wet anthropologist trying to get out of the rain).

we all need this!
Reading is cool... or so we tell ourselves

of course, it's because this is what I spent my childhood looking like... sans hedgehog

I'll have some coffee to go please....
What's not to love about a coffee cup made of porcelain that looks like a disposable paper coffee cup? DCI's "I am not a paper cup..." is just too much fun to pass up. I have to confess that I didn't post here then go and buy it... rather I'm drinking my tea from it as I type this review. The question is... do I need more than one?

Purely weird... and yet intellectually intriguing
Etsy currently has 51 items tagged with "fetus" and while some are clear in their politics and some are purely for expectant parents, some I'm not quite sure of
Like this one which is both snarky and not

And then there's just a slew of interesting and ambiguous art pieces which make me wonder if I, with my fetus art collection is not running out and buying them, who is? I may snag the blackberrying fetus to use in my lecture about constructed social lives for fetuses.

Kind of cool, kind of creepy
I've always loved mixed media shadow boxes and I definitely have a warped sense of the world so these appeal to me in a sort of I'm not sure if I'd really want them in my house, but I want to think about it......
I'm not quite sure what to do with a shadow box entitled the aborted garden, nor am I sure of the politics behind it (but there are 28 items currently tagged "abortion")

More cool, but also slightly creepy is this medical shadow box of miscelania pertaining to bones

And then there are the purely pretty ones, but then I think it may be a little toooo Americana for my actual tastes

And then there's this one which is less Americana, but still may not entirely be totally me (can I get any more equivocating?).

Beautiful domesticity
I know that my occasional overly romanticized ideas about 1950s are both mythical and currently trendy, but I've had a thing for beautiful nested mixing bowls for quite a while.
And there's something about crisp blue and matte white that fits that same design aesthetic, it's like prettier vintage pyrex.

More displays
I seem to be stuck on displays, either things to display or modes of doing so. Back in NY, in a box somewhere I have a beautiful wood necklace and earring rack, but in LA..... no such thing :) And thinking toward the future and my mythical house with endless possibilities, a handmade cork display case could be interesting-- as well as connect to my other passion of adornment.

It also seems like I'm continuing to think about a mythical beach house with exposed wood and glass.
